Learn About New NCI Funding Opportunities


On Monday, September 22nd, Directors from the NCI SBIR Development Center will talk to current and potential grantees about the Bridge Award.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has introduced the SBIR Phase II Bridge Award mechanism, designed to incentivize phase II awardees to obtain 3rd party financing to commercialize technologies developed with SBIR funds.

After the presentation, each attendee will have the opportunity for a private meeting with Greg Evans, Ph.D., Program Director and Team Leader, SBIR Development Center, National Cancer Institute.

The program will be completed by Lisa Kurek, MS, Managing Partner, Biotechnology Business Consultants (BBC), with a short session on the “SBIR Program - Funding & Training.”

Commercialization Conversations with
Michael Kurek, PhD, MBA, Partner


Join Michael Kurek at an upcoming meeting, to be held monthly across Michigan, to explore commercialization options for early stage life science companies. Michael will share experiences that he has had as a member of the management team at four different biotechnology companies.  He will discuss how BBC can provide commercialization consulting assistance to Michigan based life science companies under a special program funded through the Michigan Technology Tri-Corridor. Options for commercialization of life science technologies, funding sources, and other resources available to early stage life science companies will be discussed. Entrepreneurs, scientists, consultants, service providers are all encouraged to attend this interactive session. Registration is required but there is no charge to attend. Upcoming dates are: September 23, October 14, and November 13 with sessions being held in Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo and Rochester.
