Business Development
Consulting for Life Sciences
BBC provides individual consulting to qualified entrepreneurs
and early-stage technology companies seeking management expertise
and guidance in the areas of business development and commercialization
planning*. Qualified entrepreneurs and early-stage life science
companies can contract with BBC for individual consulting related
to commercialization and business development. The goals of
the consulting project are defined by the client and might
be directed to any of the following areas:
- strategic business planning
- market research
- preparing a written business plan
- identifying financial and
other resources
- developing partnerships and collaborations
- implementing a marketing
and sales strategy
- part-time interim management
BBC’s partners have held senior management positions with
a number of successful life science companies over the past 25 years
in disciplines ranging from medical devices and diagnostics to biotechnology
tools and technologies. Through the LSCCS program early-stage companies
can tap into this experience without having to recruit a full time
management team. The first 20 hours of business development consulting
is provided at no charge. Additional consulting is priced at $87.50
per hour. *
Entrepreneurs are required to attend a Commercialization
Training Meeting prior to scheduling a One-on-One Consultation
meeting, if possible.

BBC holds open meetings at least once per month to: provide an overview
of the services offered under the Michigan Technology Tri-Corridor Fund,
present an introduction to commercialization issues confronting early-stage
technology companies, and to facilitate interaction between entrepreneurs,
early-stage companies, and other resources available within Michigan.
All
clients interested in receiving services under this program are
required to attend one of these meetings prior to requesting individual
consulting assistance. Investors, professional service providers,
scientists, and other individuals interested in getting involved
in early-stage technology companies are also encouraged to attend.
In
addition to an overview of BBC consulting services provided under
the MLSC program, these meetings are designed to facilitate interactions
necessary to develop partnerships, collaborations, and initiate
relationships between entrepreneurs and needed resources across
the state.

Statewide Outreach
BBC travels throughout the state to attend appropriate state and local
meetings to promote these programs, recruit clients and additional
resources, and provide general information on commercialization of life
science technology. Meetings with venture capitalists, academic technology
transfer administrators, and others in a position to provide assistance
to technology entrepreneurs will be conducted as appropriate to help
achieve the goals of the program.
Individuals
and groups involved in life science commercialization across Michigan
are encouraged to contact BBC to request
assistance or discuss collaborative opportunities.
